MUN stands for Model United Nations. It is the reenactment of the real UN in a fun and informative way. Every student is assigned a country, which they need to represent on a topic given. This topic, as well as the country's political position will have been researched ahead of time. During an MUN conference, such as ACSMUN, students, or Delegates as they are called in MUN-speak, come together to discuss the topics. Delegates need to merge with other countries who have a similar political view on the given topic and work out a solution, a Resolution, to solve the problem as their country would in real life. All Delegates then discuss this Resolution and debate to advance national interests. Delegates could advocate for canceling, adding, or modifying clauses. Then, the Resolution is voted upon and may pass.
MUN is a really fun social and informational experience, that helps students learn a lot about other countries, as well as bonding with other students across the world. We hope to see you at ACSMUN.
ACSMUN II is just one of many MUN conferences. It takes place in Jordan and follows the THIMUN rules; there are different variations of MUN, and ACSMUN II follows the THIMUN rules. The reason why it is called ACSMUN II is because it is hosted by "The American Community School of Amman" (ACS).
The ACSMUN I conference was held online from the 24th to the 26th of March, although the MUN team faced the challenge of being online, we still managed to have a successful conference and are looking forward to replicating the success in the ACS MUN II conference.
